Tips and Links How to Knit - BASICS Tips for Rayon Boucle 'This yarn can be very slippery and easily tangled. For best results, use an umbrella swift to hold the skein. This yarn cannot be balled easily by using the back of a chair or your knees. Alternatively, I find using a rolled up sleeping bag helps. A rolled up sleeping bag has natural outward tension to hold the skein in place as you roll the yarn into a ball. Each skein comes tied together in 3 to 4 places. Put the skein on the swift before cutting these ties. Both ends of the skein are tied together to make up the main tie. Once the skein is on the swift and relatively tight, snip the ties. At the main tie, choose the end that comes off the skein more easily. Use this end to begin to ball by hand. This yarn does not do well on a hand-crank ball winder. Hand balling is best.' by FIESTA YARNS. Links |
